Heavy rain in North India, 25 killed

Heavy rains have suffered due to heavy rains in many states across the country due to heavy rains in north India due to landslides and house collapse, 25 people have died. So due to the heavy rains, the Himachal Pradesh government has issued a high alert, the highest rainfall in Kullu of Himachal Pradesh is waking up its own woes. In Kullu, the IAF has deployed helicopters in the town to deal with any emergencies. The government has ordered the closure of all educational institutions till September 25 in Chamba, Kullu, Sirmaur, Kangra and Hamirpur districts.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
