SC-ST gets no reservation in promotion in government jobs : Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has ruled out a major decision in the SC ST Act. The court has said that SC, ST does not need a reservation in promotions, the Supreme Court's 5 judge bench refuses to send the matter to the big bench. The apex court said that in 2006, the decision given in the Nagraj case was not required to be sent to the back of seven members, in which the conditions of the reservation of jobs for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were decided.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
