ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar resigns

ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar resigned from his post on Thursday. He was facing controversies for several days, accusing Chanda Kochhar of wrongful lending to the Videocon group. In this case, Chanda and her husband have been under investigation for a long time.

 Chanda Kochhar has made Sandeep Bakshi the new managing director and CEO of the bank after giving the post of bank CEO. It is being told that the bank board was looking for a new Managing Director for the last few months. The Board has decided to appoint Sandeep Bakshi as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. Bakshi's tenure will be five years, IE, 3 October 2023.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
