Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya India's First DGP passes away


India's first DGP Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya passed away in Mumbai following prolonged illness on Monday night.  Kanchan retired as DGP on October 31, 2007 was an IPS from 1973 batch and made history after being appointed as DGP of Uttarakhand.

She also contested Lok Sabha election after her retirement by AAP party ticket from Haridwar in 2014 to which she lost and didn't make to the lower house of Parliament. Uttarakhand police in their twitter post remembered her and expressed their condolence.
