Major accident reported in Bhopal happened when 23 people including small children drowned when 2 boats overturned killing almost 11 people and around 2 to 3 are still stated to be missing. The accident occurred during Ganesh immersion at Khatla Pura Mandir Ghat in Bhopal, 19 people were immersed in boat, 10 people were reported dead, 8 were safe. According to the sources accident occurred at 4-4:30 AM.
According to the sources there were 23 to 24 people in the two boats, both boats were tied to each other, one boat started to overturn and people started boarding the other boat, due to which both boats overturned, witnesses said. There were no life jackets and divers present to act in action by the municipal authorities. According to the authorities search operations is in full swing.
CM Kamal Nath has announced financial help of Rs 11 Lakh to the next of the kin and has tweeted and expressed his sorrow and condolences to the families of the dead.
Ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also expressed his grief to the families of the affected. Municipal Corporation has announced financial help of Rs 2 Lakh to the families who have lost their loved ones in the incident.
