Anti Government Protest Leave 40 Dead

In the latest reports coming in from Iraq more than 40 people have been feared dead and over 100 injured in an anti government protest all over Iraq as reported by AFP.  On Friday tear gas and live rounds and fires were used when the protest went bloddy.

Early in a week long movement in October have left around 150 people dead. Protest started with a calm protest with exchanging of flowers with the security forces and later on Friday it became a violent protest and things changed.

Protesters first attacked the headquarters of the armed forces and government bodies.  This exaggerated the situations making it worse and security opened fire and tear gas on the protesters. They began early and calm on Thursday evening, with protesters exchanging flowers with security forces and the interior minister insisting police would “protect” protesters.

But by Friday evening, demonstrations across the country had descended into violence that left 42 protesters dead - at least half of them as they attacked the headquarters of armed factions or government bodies.

Sources said that Parliament is scheduled to meet on Saturday to discuss on the present situation.
