Ex Finance Minister P. Chidambaram have been granted bail in the CBI case by the Supreme Court of India but it is not coming as a relief for the EX Minister as he still has to remain in ED custody till October 24.
According to the reports the Apex Court in its verdict said that the Ex Minister can be released provided he is not arrested in any other case. The verdict also mentioned that the Minister has to make himself available as and when necessary by the investigating authorities.
He won't be allowed to travel abroad without prior approval by the apex court. He have to submit a personal bond of Rs one Lakh.
The bench deciding the bail of the Ex Minister was headed by Justice R Bhanumathi has overlooked the court order of the high court which had denied bail to P. Chidambaram on September 30. Right now Chidambaram is in the Enforcement Directorate custody in INX Media Money Laundering case.
The apex court has given its verdict in this case in favor of the Minister and dismissed the verdict of the high court in September 30 case saying that right now the case is in that stage where the Minister is not in position to influence the witnesses.
