According to reports the Maharashtra government had ordered the cutting of 2702 trees in the forest of Aarey Colony to build a car shed for the Mumbai Metro. On Friday, the Bombay High Court dismissed all the petitions filed against the tree cutting order in this case.
Now the cutting of trees has been started by imposing Section 144 in the area. After this, the people of MMRCL reached to cut the tree, then the workers of Aare Bachao Campaign confronted them. During this time there was a lot of scuffle. It is being told that the Municipal Corporation had cut about 400 trees overnight.
