It has been a tradition in the Supreme Court that the current Chief Justice recommends the name of a successor before his retirement. Leading this tradition the present Chief Justice Of India Ranjan Gogoi has suggested the name of Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as the next Chief Justice.
CJI Rajan Gogoi is presiding Judge along with the bench of five more judges. And Justice SA Bobde is also included in this bench. Ranjan Gogoi will retire on 17 November 2019.
Talking about SA Bobde, earlier he was the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court and was a judge of Bombay High Court.
