Police presence increased and is continuing in Mumbai Aarey Colony as there was an increase in the rise of protest against tree cutting.
On Friday afternoon, High court Mumbai dismissed petition against the removal of over 2500 trees to make a way for a new metro car shed. This decision to cut down the trees was let down by Mumbai High Court after the residents vowed against the administration against tree cutting.
A section 144 was imposed on Saturday after the authorities began cutting the trees hours later and activists flocked to the site to protest.
