Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan passed away


The country's former and 10th Election Commissioner Tirunelai Narayan Aiyar Seshan has passed away. He was 86 years old. According to the reports he was unwell since last few days. He died of a heart attack at 9 pm on Sunday night.

PM Modi has expressed condolences on the death of TN Seshan. He wrote on Twitter that he was an unprecedented bureaucrat, he served the country with full devotion and diligence and was pained to hear the news of his demise.

TN Seshan was the Chief Election Commissioner of India from 12 December 1990 to 11 December 1996. He was born in Tirunelai in Palakkad district of Kerala. He was a 1955 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre. Raman Magsaysay Award was awarded in the year 1996. TN Seshan has also contested the presidential election. He was elected in the presidential election R. They were defeated by Narayan.
