Six Killed In Kashmir Snowfall Including Four Army Personnel


Six people have died in Kashmir due to heavy snowfall.  Out of the six four were army personnel. Gulmarg where snowfall have begun from Wednesday has till date recorded the highest snowfall of 62 cm.

As per reports received by meteorological department higher reaches of Kashmir including Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Kupwara received first snowfall on Wednesday while the plains were lashed by rains.

Many flights going to Kashmir has been cancelled and main highway leading to Kashmir have also been shut down due to heavy rainfall.  As reports are coming in at least 2000 vehicles have been stranded on the highway.

Six people have died in the recent snowfall including two Army personnel were killed in a road accident in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir as the vehicle in which they were travelling met an accident according to senior officials. 

Two army porters and two civilians were dead after being trapped in snow in Kupwara district of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir
