Full dress rehearsal for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations at Rajpath

India gears up for the upcoming 71st Republic Day celebrations and full dress rehearsals took place today at Rajpath.

Began around 10 in the morning today from Vijay Chowk,the parade proceeded towards Rajpath,Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg.


During the rehearsal,the traffic on Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate was totally restricted and several roads and two of the metro stations Udyog Bhawan and Central Secretariat, remained closed .

The most interesting thing about this year Republic Day's celebration is that for the very first time Jammu and Kashmir will participate in the parade as a Union territory

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
