Major Meeting For Municipality Act

A meeting of opposition parties, including Congress was held today regarding the amendment of the Municipalities Act.  This meeting was led by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.  

The Congress has suffered a major setback before the meeting.  Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and BSP chief Mayawati didn't attended this meeting.  

This meeting was held at 2 pm today in Parliament House. Before the meeting, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee flatly refused to attend the meeting.  However, there was also no confirmation of Mayawati joining the meeting.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
