Rape Case Accused Swami Chinmayanand gets bail from Allahabad High Court

Swami Chinmayanand,Former Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Swami Chinmayanand got bail today. He was arrested in sexual harassment case. The Allahabad High Court, while hearing the bail plea on Monday, decided to grant bail to Chinmayanand. The High Court had reserved the judgment on 16 November.

Chinmayananda was accused of sexually abusing a student studying in his own college, Swami Shukdevanand Law College, after which he was arrested. SIT investigation is going on in this case.

Earlier last month, the Allahabad High Court dismissed the petition of former Union Minister of State for Home Swami Chinmayanand, who had been in jail for several months on charges of sexual exploitation of an LLM student in Shahjahanpur.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
