    Former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini Seeks Anticipatory Bail

    Supreme Court starts hearing the plea of former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case related to alleged abduction and the murder of Junior Engineer Balwant Singh Multani in 1991.

    Saini's counsel Mukul Rohatgi says his client was a decorated officer. Rohatgi says that FIR was registered against Saini in a mala fide manner & now he has retired.

    Rohatgi says that the state government is after Saini because he had filed two charge sheets which had current Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh as an accused.

    SC issues notice to Punjab govt seeking its response on plea of former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case related to alleged abduction and murder of a Junior Engineer Balwant Singh Multani in 1991. Matter to be next heard after 2 weeks.

    Supreme Court also orders that former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Sumedh Singh Saini will not be arrested till further orders.
