Fire At Serum Institute Of India: Administration Has Reported That It Is Being Controlled


Latest reports have been coming in from Pune where a fire at the Serum Institute of India building broke out since afternoon in one it's under constructed building.

Prashant Ranpise, Chief fire officer, Pune Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra  has stated that the fire is under control, cooling process is underway. No casualty reported, cause of the fire is still unknown.

As per reports from Maharashtra fire fighting operation are still underway at the under-construction building at Serum Institute of India in Pune, where a fire broke out this afternoon. 

At least 10 fire tenders present at the spot.  However it is being reported that the vaccines and the vaccine manufacturing plant are safe. 

Adar Poonawalla, CEO-Owner, Serum Institute of India on incident of fire at SII's Manjri plant has said thanked everyone for their concern and prayers. 

According to Adar Poonawalla, CEO-Owner, Serum Institute of India on incident has said that so far the most important thing is that there've been no lives lost or major injuries due to fire, despite a few floors being destroyed.

I'd like to reassure all govts & public that there would be no loss of COVISHIELD production due to multiple production buildings that I'd kept in reserve to deal with such contingencies at Serum Institute of India.

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, on fire at Serum Institute of India has said that as per the information we've received, the fire is under control. There have been no casualties so far. The fire had not broken out at the COVID vaccine unit.
