Maharashtra entering in the second wave of covid 19, expert says

The centre warns the Maharashtra government to apply effective containment strategies as the numbers of corona cases are increasing continuously.

The Union Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan said that "Maharashtra is at the beginning of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

There is a lack of adherence to COVID-19 acceptable behaviour among people in both rural and urban areas, limiting efforts to monitor, test, isolate cases, and quarantine contacts.'

Bhushan demanded that the state administration reduce the state's test positivity rate and increase contact-tracing and vaccinations in a strongly worded letter.

Right now, the positivity rate in Maharashtra is 13.21%, the recovery rate is 92.21% and the fatality rate is 2.28%.

The health department in Maharashtra registered 15,051 new coronavirus cases on Monday, raising the total number of cases in the state to 23,29,464, with 48 deaths bringing the death numbers to 52,909.
