Polling Begins In Assam And West Bengal In 1st Phase: Voters Coming Out In Large Numbers

Latest reports have been coming in from Assam and West Bengal where first phase of polling has begun.

As per reports from Assam and West Bengal which go for first phase polling as campaigning picks up momentum in poll-bound states.

According to District Election Officer, East Midnapore while speaking to ANI we've 509 vulnerable booths in our district. We've deployed 169 companies. 

We are monitoring booths with CAPF and non-CPF measures. Over 50% of polling booths have webcasting facility and CCTV, videographer. We've 800 micro-observers for phase 1 polling.

Also reports surging in from Assam where voters queue outside a polling station in Nagaon, ahead of the first phase of Assam Assembly Polls today.

The social distancing norms are being followed in the polling booths in Assam and West Bengal as Covid 19 Cases are on the surge in the country.

As per reports PM Modi has also urges people to vote in record numbers.
