Union Cabinet Approves Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme:Union Minister Piyush Goyal

Latest reports have been coming in from union Minister Piyush Goyal press conference where he had stated that manufacturing of white goods and high frequency solar PV module would be approved under production linked incentive scheme.

As per reports coming in Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi has approved Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

This production linked incentive scheme has been approved for manufacturing of white goods (that is, air-conditioners and LEDs) and high-frequency solar PV modules as per Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

With this decision of the Union Cabinet today, a total of 9 out of 13 PLI schemes have been approved to date.

While the rest of the 4 schemes are in an advanced stage. Together these schemes will give a big push to India's manufacturing sector as per reports coming in from Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
