According to reports coming in faced with a huge backlash, actor Akshay Kumar on Thursday announced that he is stepping down as the brand ambassador of a tobacco company with whom he had recently signed a contract.
According to the sources the actor in a lengthy social media posting in the early hours today apologised for hurting the sentiments of people.
The actor has stated that I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me.
While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi.
The actor has further stated that with all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause as written by Akshay Kumar on Instagram.
