Bihar Vet Called To Animal Survey, Then Kidnapped, Married Forced!

A veterinarian, called to look after a sick animal, was abducted by three people and forcibly married in Begusarai in Bihar on Tuesday.
"He was called around 12:00 to look for a sick animal, after which 3 people were abducted. Everyone in the house was worried and then we went to the police," a relative of the victim, quoted by ANI, said.

After the incident the father of a veterinarian lodged a complaint with the police.

"The boy's father (veterinarian) filed a complaint at the police station. We have asked SHO and other officials to investigate the matter. Strict action will be taken," said Yogendra Kumar, SP, Begusarai. .

Kidnapping of a bridegroom or 'Pakadwa Vivah' is common in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh where boys are forced to marry while being pointed at guns. Potential boyfriends, especially those with money and welfare, are kidnapped by the bride's family and often beaten to make themselves submissive.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
