Deliberately Tax Rates Over Online Games, Casinos July 15: Nirmala Sitharaman


The Customs and Excise Council (GST) has asked the Inter-Ministerial Council (GoM) to reconsider the tax rate on horse racing, online games and casinos on July 15, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told reporters after a two-day conference.
GoM led by Meghalaya Prime Minister Conrad Sangma has been asked to reconsider stakeholder submissions on how to measure and submit its report on July 15, Ms Sitharaman said.

The council will meet again in the first week of August to decide on the matter, he added.

GST was introduced on July 1, 2017, and the provinces were guaranteed compensation for the loss of revenue until June 2022, arising from the issue.
