Skoda Octavia Crosses One Lakh Unit For Sale In India!


The Skoda Octavia moniker has been in India since 2001 and despite a rollercoaster tour of the leading Indian market, a Czech manufacturer has sold more than 1 lakh car units, over the past two decades. To date, Skoda has delivered 101,111 units of Octavia in India, and the car continues to be one of the longest-running, most ever-present nameplates in the country. Competing with German car manufacturers in its category, the Octavia is the best-selling car in the form of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) in India.

Octavia (A4) first appeared on the Indian market in 2001, followed by vRS which first appeared worldwide in 2000, which was the first Skoda badge focused on performance in a production car. VRS was the first passenger car with a petrol engine in India launched in 2004 for Indian consumers. Skoda introduced several engines in the form of TDI, TSI and vRS in 2004 in India. In 2005, Skoda re-introduced the new Octavia bag as Laura (A5) was needed until 2010. Then came the (A7) Octavia in 2013 with new features and updated details. Skoda received the vRS version with vRS 230 in 2017 and vRS 245 by 2020.

The fourth-generation Octavia arrived in India in 2021 and prices start from ₹ 26.85 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) and come with 2 variants - Style and Laurin & Klement (L&K). Power from a 2 liter engine, four-cylinder TSI turbo petrol kicks 187 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque, and is compatible with 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. It comes with 600 liter boot space and can extend up to 1,555-liter by folding the rear seat.
