Karnataka Education Minister 'Anti-educator' must be removed: Siddaramaiah

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah demanded that BC Nagesh, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, be dropped from the Cabinet, calling him an "anti-educationist".
Tweeting about the distribution of shoes and socks to government school children, he said, “We had to wake up Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai to throw him out of the cabinet.

"BC's anti-prudential education minister who was going to take away shoes and socks from poor school children has no humanity. Is Nagesh making a mistake or two?" Siddaramaiah criticized the state government saying, "First remove this anti-education person from the cabinet".
Due to the lack of funds in the current year's budget, the Ministry of Education dropped the cycle, shoes and socks scheme.

Congress officials criticized the government's decision. Following this, Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai approved a proposal worth ₹132 crore for distribution of shoes and socks to school children following the education minister's statement and criticized by the Congress party.
