Tejashwi Yadav offered support to protect family in corruption cases: Bihar BJP Chief

Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal on Tuesday said RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav wanted the central government to protect his family from corruption cases and was willing in return to support his party in forming the government in the state.
Mr Jaiswal told the Press Trust of India that Tejashwi Yadav made the offer to Union Minister Nityanand Rai during the flight, adding that the RJD leader's claim that Mr Rai wanted to join his party was made out of frustration as the BJP refused to "compromise". with corruption.

It was the only time Nityanand Rai met Mr. Yadav, he said.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal claimed in Patna on Monday that Nityanand Rai, a senior BJP leader from the state, had expressed his desire to jump ship ahead of his induction into the Union Council of Ministers in 2019.

Hitting out at Mr Yadav, Mr Jaiswal, a Lok Sabha MP, said he was coming back at the Union Minister with such a "false claim" because the BJP had refused to compromise on corruption.

His family members are accused of massive corruption and he must go to jail, the BJP leader said.

"He wanted the BJP to protect his family members from jail. He was ready to support the BJP and help it form the government in the state. But our party refused to compromise with corruption," he said.

Reacting to Mr. Rai's criticism for his jab at NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murma, Mr. Yadav said, “Don't talk to me about him. He met me before reaching the ministerial berth and expressed his desire to join my party. ."

Tejashwi Yadav, son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, and some other members of his family have been accused in a corruption case. He has denied the allegations in the past, blaming it on a political vendetta by the BJP-led NDA.

Lalu Prasad Yadav has been convicted in the fodder scam case.
