Northeast Monsoon To Set In Soon, Rain Activities Will Increase Over Coastal Andhra Pradesh And Parts Of Tamil Nadu


The required weather parameters for the Northeast monsoon are in place now. Northeasterly winds over the Bay of Bengal have strengthened and soon Northeast Monsoon will make an onset. Rain activities will gradually increase over coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and many parts of Tamil Nadu from November 1st.

Isolated heavy spells of rain likely: According to Skymet Weather, there may be isolated heavy spells of rain over the south coast of Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Places like Nellore, Kawali, Tirupati and Chittoor may witness a few intense spells of rain.

Gradual increase in rain activities: A cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over the Southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka. And a trough will extend from this cyclonic circulation to coastal Andhra Pradesh. There will be a gradual increase in rain activities in Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka as well as over Kerala between November 2nd and 4th.

Moderate to heavy rains: Although Skymet meteorologists do not expect flooding downpours but few moderate to heavy rains cannot be ruled out. Major amount of rainfall is being received by Tamil Nadu during the Northeast monsoon between October and December.
