World Cup T20: India-Pakistan Match On Sunday Amid Rain Threat; What Will Happen If Match Is Washed Out

Melbourne: India-Pakistan high voltage match in T20 World Cup 2022 is to be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. The hopes of crores of fans of both the countries could be dashed if the match is washed.

It rained heavily on Saturday and the Meteorological Department has also issued a mini flood alert. Due to this, Team India had to do indoor practice on Saturday. Know, what will be the mathematics of the semi-finals if the match is washed out in rain.

Do-or-die struggle for team losing opening match: By winning this match, the team getting the full 2 points will have a lot of hope of reaching the semi-finals. Failure to do so could result in a do-or-die struggle in remaining matches and even a win in all of them would not guarantee a semi-final. In the last World Cup, we saw that South Africa could not reach the semi-finals despite winning 4 out of 5 matches in Super-12.

Neither India nor Pakistan want match to be cancelled: Teams from South Africa, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Netherlands are in the India-Pakistan group. Only two teams out of six have to make it to the last-4. Therefore, neither India nor Pakistan would like the match to be cancelled. Both will try to win the match and get two points so that their claim remains strong.

There were chances of rain in Sydney too, but the match is happening there: Rain was also expected in the match between Australia and New Zealand in Sydney on Saturday. It rained heavily on Friday. But, despite being cloudy on Saturday, it did not rain and the ground staff dried the ground in time.
