By-elections: BJP bags four key seats in Haryana, UP, Bihar and Odisha



New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday won four seats in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal retained the Mokama assembly seat in the by-elections to seven assembly constituencies in six states.

The BJP has won in Uttar Pradesh's Gola Gokrannath, Haryana's Adampur, Bihar's Gopalganj, and Odisha's Dhamnagar. 

The Tejashwi Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal has won in Bihar's Mokama. K Chandrashekar Rao's Telangana Rashtriya Samithi won in Munugode by a slim margin and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction won in Mumbai's Andheri East seat. 

The BJP retained the Dhamnagar assembly seat in Odisha, defeating the ruling Biju Janata Dal by a margin of 9,881.

Neelam Devi of RJD wins in Bihar: Neelam Devi, the RJD candidate and wife of strongman Anant Singh, has won the Mokama seat in Bihar. 

TRS has won in Telangana and Uddhav's party has won in Maharashtra.

Voting was held on November 3 in all the seats. Of the seven seats where by-elections were held, BJP and Congress had 2 seats each. At the same time, BJD, Shiv Sena and RJD had one seat each.

Rutuja Latke, the candidate of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), won the by-poll to Andheri (East) Assembly seat in Mumbai.
