T-20 World Cup 2022: England Bags Title

 

Melbourne: England has become the first double world champion in cricket history. England team won the T20 World Cup title for the second time by defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final played at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. England also currently has the ODI World Cup title. For the first time, a team has the world title of both ODI and T20 at the same time.
Batting first after losing the toss in the final, Pakistan's team could only score 137 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, England achieved the target in 19 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Ben Stokes scored the highest 52 not out for England.

Sam Curran named Man of the Match: England's left-arm pacer Sam Curran, who bowled an incredible spell of 3/12 in four overs, is named the man of the match.
He made it a grand double as he wins the Player of the Tournament award. Curran is the top wicket-taker with 13 wickets at an economy rate of 6.5.
"This is incredibly special," says Curran.
"I knew my into the wicket bowling would work especially looking at the big boundaries. I bowled the slower balls which worked quite well."
