Congress Government In Himachal Pradesh, Big Question Is Who Will Become The CM, Pratibha Singh And Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu In The Race

Shimla: The five-year-old BJP government in Himachal Pradesh has been rejected by the voters of the state. Encouraged by the victory of Himachal Pradesh, the Congress is now engaged in deciding who will be the CM of this hill state. This is a big challenge before the Congress after the victory, because like other states of the country, Congress here too is not untouched by factionalism.

The Congress leaders entered the electoral fray unitedly by forgetting their differences during the campaign, but now as soon as the elections are over, the ambition of becoming the chief minister is rising again among the big leaders. 

Letter written to stop claim of Pratibha Singh: Recently, a faction of the party had written a letter to the top leadership demanding that only the elected MLAs should be given the right to choose the CM. It is believed that this letter was written by the chairman of the campaign committee and former state Congress president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu faction. 

This letter was written to stop the claim of Pratibha Singh, the current state president and wife of former CM late Virbhadra Singh.

On the other hand, recently, Pratibha Singh has also presented the claim of her family by referring to the legacy of her husband Virbhadra Singh, who was the Chief Minister of the state for a long time.

Congress Legislature Party meeting will be held in the evening

After winning the elections in Himachal, the Congress had instructed all its MLAs to reach Chandigarh. Due to which all the MLAs have reached Chandigarh. There will be a meeting of the Legislature Party here on Friday evening. In which discussions are to be held regarding the post of CM. Party sources say that a one-line proposal may be passed in the meeting. In which the party high command will be asked to take the decision on the post of CM.

Congress will also make Deputy Chief Minister

In Himachal Pradesh, Congress can move forward on the formula of two Deputy Chief Ministers along with the CM. It is believed that the family of King Virbhadra will get some post or the other. If Pratibha Singh does not get the chair of CM, then her son Vikramaditya Singh can be made Deputy Chief Minister. Both Priyanka Gandhi and state in-charge Rajeev Shukla are believed to be inclined towards the Singh family.

Pratibha and Sukhwinder Singh not on good terms

Lobbying has started for the post of CM. Pratibha Singh and Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu are being said to be the strongest contenders in the race. Virbhadra Singh and Sukhu were not on very cordial terms. In such a situation, Mukesh Agnihotri and Sudhir Sharma, who were ministers in the Virbhadra government, are also considering themselves as contenders.

Presently Pratibha Singh is MP

Despite strong claim, there are some hurdles in front of Pratibha Singh. For example, if the MLAs insist on making an MLA as the CM, then the challenge for the party will increase. Apart from this, a dilemma facing the party is Pratibha Singh's membership in the Lok Sabha. 

She is the MP from Mandi seat. If she is made the CM, she will have to resign from the Lok Sabha. In such a situation, a big question before the Congress would be to get back that seat. Due to the apprehension of losing the seat in the by-elections, the Congress may make someone else sit on the post of CM, it may also happen that if Pratibha Singh assures the party of victory in the election of MP, then she may get a chance.
