India-Bangladesh ODI: India Lose Series Despite Rohit Sharma's Spirited Performance


Mirpur: India lost to Bangladesh by 5 runs in the second ODI despite captain Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 51 off 28 balls. Chasing a target of 272 runs, India had scored 260 runs for 9 wickets in 49.4 overs. Two sixes were needed off the last two balls for the win. Rohit hit a six on the 5th ball, but he could not do so on the last ball. The last ball was of yorker length. Rohit could not hit it properly and no run was scored. In this way India lost the match by 5 runs. With this, Bangladesh has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
This is India's second consecutive series defeat in the ODI series in Bangladesh. Earlier in 2015, Bangladesh defeated India 2-1 in the ODI series.

40 runs were needed in the last 3 overs

Rohit Sharma could not open in this match due to thumb injury. He landed as the number 9 batsman. India needed 40 runs in the last three overs of the game. Mohammad Siraj was on strike in the 48th over and Rohit was on non-strike. Mustafizur Rahman did not allow Siraj to take even a single run in this over.
Now in the last two overs, India needed 40 runs to win. Mahmudullah got 20 runs in this over. Rohit hit a six on the first and third ball of this over. Apart from this, he also took two doubles and a single. Three runs were found as wides.

Sundar took 2 wickets in one over, missed a hat-trick: Washington Sundar took 2 wickets in 2 balls. He got Mushfiqur Rahim (12) caught by Dhawan on the 5th ball of the 19th over and Afif Hussain (0) was bowled on the last ball. However, Sundar could not complete his hat-trick. But, he took 3 wickets. Earlier he had Shakib Al Hasan (8) caught by Dhawan.
