Parliament Winter Session 2022: Opposition MPs Walked Out Demanding Discussion On China

New Delhi: The ruckus continued on Day 12 of the winter session of Parliament as the opposition was still adamant on its demand for a discussion on the China issue. At the same time, to give a message to the country on Corona infection, today the Speakers of both the Houses reached the Parliament wearing masks. Apart from this, the Center will introduce three bills in the Rajya Sabha to revise the ST list in Tamil Nadu, Himachal and Karnataka.

Opposition MPs walked out of the Rajya Sabha demanding discussion on the issue of China and Union Minister Piyush Goyal's remarks against Bihar. Earlier, Piyush Goyal tried to corner the Congress by reminding them of the 1962 war.

Opposition members shouted slogans

As soon as the House reassembled at 12 noon after the first adjournment, opposition members again raised the demand for a discussion on the issue and shouted slogans.

Amid noisy scenes, the standing committee reports and other documents were laid on the table of the House. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said since the winter session would conclude on Friday, important legislative business should be allowed to take place.

He also said that in the past, when the UPA was in power, no discussion on such a sensitive issue was allowed in the House and the opposition had agreed to that.

Rajendra Agrawal, who was chairing the proceedings, urged the members to allow the House to function smoothly as Thursday was practically the last day to take up legislative business. With the opposition refusing to relent, he adjourned the proceedings till 2 pm.
