New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu said during her joint address in Parliament on Tuesday that the Amrit Kaal of independence is the period for every citizen of the country to perform their duty and contribute in building a developed India.
Smt. Murmu said that today India's self-confidence is at its peak and the way the world is looking at us has changed. Countrymen have seen many such positive changes for the first time in the last nine years.
Addressing the joint session of both the Houses in the Central Hall on the first day of the budget session of Parliament, the President said, “This 25-year period of Amritkaal is the golden century of independence and the period of building a developed India. These 25 years are for all of us and for every citizen of the country to show the culmination of our duties."
She said that we have to make such an India which is self-reliant and capable of fulfilling human obligations, which does not have poverty and whose middle class is also full of wealth.
Youth and women power should stand at forefront
She said that by 2047, we have to build such a nation which is connected to the glory of its past and in which every golden chapter of modernity is also connected.
The President said that we have to build such an India in which youth power and women power stand at the forefront and the youth walk two steps ahead of time. She called for making the country's diversity more vivid and unity more unshakable in Amritkaal.
Iconic decisions of govt
President Murmu shed light on some of the most important and iconic decisions taken by the ruling central government. "From abrogating Article 370 in J&K to abolishing Triple Talaq, my government has taken major decisions," said President Murmu.
She also spoke about the government's tireless efforts in providing life-sustaining facilities to the remotest corners of the nation. From electricity to water supply, the government has successfully provided all of it to all corners of the nation.
"About 11 crore families have been connected with piped water supply in three years under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Poor families are getting the maximum benefit from this," said President Murmu.
