Bihar News: Union Minister Ashwini Choubey's Brother Dies In Bhagalpur Hospital; There Was No Doctor In ICU, Family Creates Ruckus


Bhagalpur: Jawaharlal Nehru Medical Hospital, the largest hospital in the eastern region of Bihar is in news for wrong reasons. Union Minister of State Ashwini Choubey's younger brother Nirmal Choubey passed away in the ICU on Friday evening, after which the relatives blamed the doctors for his death and created a ruckus in the ICU alleging that there was no doctor in the ICU. 

Nirmal Choubey was 65 years old. He had retired from Air Force. He was taken to the hospital at 4 pm when his health deteriorated. According to the family, suddenly his health deteriorated, he was having trouble in breathing, but doctors were not present in the ICU.

Hospital superintendent, ICU incharge held hostage

On the other hand, the hospital superintendent and ICU incharge, who arrived after receiving information about the ruckus, were held hostage for hours.

"Patient was brought in critical condition. It was found that he had suffered a massive heart attack. The senior doctor administered the required medicine. He was then shifted to ICU but there was no doctor there," Dr Asim Kr Das, hospital Superintendent said.

2 doctors suspended

Police of several police stations and SSB jawans along with City DSP reached the hospital. The hospital superintendent suspended Dr. Vinay Kumar and Aditya Vaidya. 

Relatives of other patients admitted to the hospital after the incident also say that they are neglected in the hospital and doctors rarely come to see them.
