Jammu and Kashmir Rajouri Terror Attack: Child Dies, 5 Injured As Another IED Blast Rocks Area; Search Operations Intensified

Rajouri: There was another IED blast in Rajouri of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning. A child died while five people were injured in the blast which took place in Dhangri village of Rajouri. The blast took place at the site where four people were killed in a suspected terror attack Sunday evening.

Mukesh Singh, additional director general of police, said a blast had taken near the house of the first firing incident. 5 persons were injured. One child had succumbed to injuries and another was critical.  Another suspected IED has been spotted which is being cleared.

Second terror attack in less than 12 hours 

This is the second terror attack in the village less than 12 hours after four civilians were killed and six were injured in a suspected terror attack last evening.

This is the same village where terrorists fired indiscriminately at 3 houses on Sunday evening. Four Hindus were killed in the attack. People told that on Sunday evening the terrorists called people out of their houses. They saw their Aadhaar cards and then started firing.

In Rajouri town, people along with the bodies of those killed in the attack a day earlier gathered at Dangri chowk and blocked roads. 

They are demanding that Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha come to protest site, officials said.

On Monday morning, when people were protesting against the Sunday evening attack, there was a blast in a house. 

Complete shut down in protest against killings

Four civilians were killed and six injured after the suspected terrorists opened fire on three houses in Upper Dangri village on Sunday evening. 

Security has been beefed up in view of the attack in Rajouri, where there is a complete shut down in protest against the killings. 

According to ADGP Mukesh Singh, the search operation is on. Police, CRPF, Army personnel have cordoned off the entire area.

Cordon-and-search operation intensified

Security forces on Monday intensified a cordon-and-search operation by inducting additional personnel to track down two suspected terrorists involved in an attack on a particular community in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. 

"The cordon-and-search operation has been intensified. It was resumed this morning and additional troops have been inducted," a senior police officer said. 

 Drones and sniffer dogs deployed

Army, police, special operation group and Central Reserve Police Force personnel are involved in the cordon-and-search operation. Drones and sniffer dogs have also been deployed, the officials said. 

On Sunday evening, terrorists also attacked the bunker of CRPF's 28th Battalion with a grenade in Hawal Chowk, Srinagar. The AK-47 rifle of a CRPF jawan was snatched from Rajpora area of Pulwama.
