Raigad: The news of a horrific accident has come from Raigad in Maharashtra. The mishap occurred on Thursday morning. A truck and a van collided here, in which nine people died.
The accident occurred at 4.45 am at Repoli village in Raigad, over 130 km from Mumbai on Mumbai-Goa Highway. The victims were all relatives. The deceased included a girl child, three women and five men.
The van was going in the van to Guhagar in Ratnagiri district, Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge said. The truck was going towards Mumbai, he said.
“Nine people were killed. The deceased included a girl child, three women and five men," the SP said. After being alerted, police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
The bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem. The cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, the police said.Further details are awaited.
