President Droupadi Murmu Addresses Nation On Eve Of Republic Day, Says It Has Been An Amazing Journey

New Delhi: On the eve of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu said in her message to the nation – On the eve of 74th Republic Day, I extend my hearty greetings to all the people of India living in the country and abroad. When we celebrate Republic Day, we celebrate what we have achieved together as a nation. It has been an amazing journey that has inspired many other nations.
We are all one, and we are all Indians. So many creeds and so many languages have not divided us but united us. That's why we have succeeded as a democratic republic. This is the essence of India.
India has moved from being a poor and illiterate nation to a confident nation on the world stage. This progress would not have been possible without the guidance from the collective wisdom of the framers of the Constitution.

We came out of economic downturn and resumed the growth saga

In our mission of ‘Sarvodaya’, the most encouraging has been the progress made on the economic front. Last year, India became the fifth largest economy in the world. It needs to be underlined that this achievement comes against the backdrop of high economic uncertainties around the world. The pandemic has entered the fourth year, affecting economic growth in most parts of the world. In its initial phase, Covid-19 also hurt India’s economy badly. Yet, guided by our able leadership and driven by our resilience, we soon came out of the downturn, and resumed the growth saga.

NEP prepares learners for challenges of 21st century

The National Education Policy prepares the learners for the challenges of the 21st century and makes the knowledge based on our civilization relevant to contemporary life. We can feel proud of our achievements in the field of science and technology. In the field of space technology, India has been one of the few leading countries.

Women will make maximum contribution in shaping the India of tomorrow

Women empowerment and equality between women and men are no longer mere slogans. There is no doubt in my mind that women will make the maximum contribution in shaping the India of tomorrow. This vision of empowerment guides the working of the government for the weaker sections of the people, including the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.

We have to learn from tribal communities

In fact, our aim is not only to remove obstacles in the lives of people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and help in their development, but also to learn from those communities. Tribal communities have lessons to offer in many areas, from protecting the environment to making society more cohesive.

Collective strength of people helps us move forward

The President said I appreciate the roles of farmers, labourers, scientists and engineers whose collective strength enables our country to move forward in the spirit of "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan". I appreciate each and every citizen contributing towards the progress of the country.
