AAP's Atishi Marlena, Saurabh Bhardwaj Took Oath As Ministers, Marlena Said - Sisodia Will Handle His Department After Coming Out Of Jail

 

New Delhi: The Kejriwal government of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi has made MLAs Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi Marlena ministers while expanding the cabinet. Both the leaders took oath as ministers at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday. LG VK Saxena administered the oath to both. CM Arvind Kejriwal was also present in the swearing-in ceremony. While Atishi will handle education, PWD, energy and tourism departments, Saurabh will handle health, rural development, water and industry departments.

Sisodia and Satyendar Jain will take charge of their departments after coming out of jail

Atishi said Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain will take charge of the education and health departments after coming out of jail. Atishi Marlena, MLA from Kalkaji seat of Delhi, has become MLA for the first time in 2020 itself. She was born on 8 June 1981 in Delhi. Atishi added Marlena, a word formed from Marx and Lenin, to her name during her school days. 

She studied at Springdale School in Delhi. After which she obtained a Bachelor's degree from St. Stephen's College. After this she graduated from Oxford University London after getting Rhodes Scholarship.

Atishi was a school teacher

Atishi Marlena was a history teacher at Rishi Valley School in Andhra Pradesh. She has also worked with many NGOs. In the year 2013, she joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Worked with Manish Sisodia to improve the model of education in government schools of Delhi. However, for working as a consultant, she used to take a salary of Re 1 per month from the Delhi government. It was Atishi who started the Happiness Curriculum in Delhi schools.

Saurabh has been the transport minister

AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj, who holds the Health Department, was elected MLA for the third time from Delhi's Greater Kailash. He has become a minister again after 9 years. He was made the Transport Minister in Kejriwal's first government. Saurabh won the 2013 assembly elections by defeating Ajay Kumar Malhotra, son of BJP veteran Vijay Kumar Malhotra.

Saurabh has been helping the poor

Saurabh Bhardwaj, the minister in charge of the health department, was an engineer before joining politics. He was an expert in microchips and coding. Born on 12 December 1979 in Delhi, Saurabh completed his Computer Science studies in 2003 from Bharatiya Vidya Peeth College of Engineering, IP University. After studying law from Osmania University, he started helping the poor by providing legal aid. 

Saurabh came in touch with Arvind Kejriwal during the Anna movement. Saurabh entered politics when Kejriwal formed the Aam Aadmi Party.
