Madhya Pradesh: Congress Workers On Way To Gherao Raj Bhavan In Bhopal Chased Away, Jitu Patwati, Ajay Singh, Others Court Arrest

 

Bhopal: Under the leadership of senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and state in-charge JP Aggarwal, Congress leaders and workers protested here under 'Raj Bhavan gherao' today.

Digvijaya Singh, Vivek Tankha did not participate in the demonstration. Congress sources said they are in Delhi. Party national president Mallikarjun Kharge has called the meeting.

A large number of Congress workers and office bearers gathered at Jawahar Chowk here on Monday afternoon. After this, under the leadership of Kamal Nath and JP Aggarwal, Congress workers came out in large numbers to gherao the Raj Bhavan. Congress leaders and workers were stopped by the police even before the Roshanpura intersection.

Police used water cannon

Meanwhile, a situation of dispute arose between the police and the Congress workers and the police used 'water cannon' to disperse them. Several Congress leaders including former Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajay Singh also courted arrest.

This demonstration of Congress has been organized against the alleged anti-people policies of industrialist Adani and the state government, in which thousands of workers from across the state have participated.

Before the Raj Bhavan, the police had put up barricades at the Rangmahal intersection. The police failed to stop the Congress leaders there. The workers went ahead breaking the barricades.

Workers climbed over the barricade

The workers proceeded on foot, while Kamal Nath, Leader of Opposition Dr. Govind Singh and other prominent leaders proceeded on trucks. 100 meters ahead of Rangmahal intersection, the police had put up another barricade. The workers argued with the police here too. They climbed over the barricade. 

Workers injured

When the workers broke the second barricade, the police chased them back by using high pressure of water from the water cannon. Some workers were injured as they fell down. District President of Bhind Youth Congress, Dr. Rajkumar got hurt in his hand. A worker who came from Satna fainted. He was taken to Rainbow Hospital.

Jitu Patwari, Kunal Chowdhary among those arrested

Police arrested 50 workers including MLA Jitu Patwari, Kunal Chowdhary. After filling the workers in 3 buses, the police took them away from the protest site. DCP Sai Krishna Thota told there was a crowd of 5 thousand in the demonstration. After the arrest, Congress leaders and workers started retreating. Meanwhile, Kamal Nath also left by car. This demonstration of Congress lasted for 2 hours.

Every section is troubled in MP: Nath

Before starting the foot march from Jawahar Chowk, PCC Chief and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath told the workers in the meeting that the future of Madhya Pradesh is at stake. He said every section is troubled in Madhya Pradesh. Youths are running from pillar to post, farmers and businessmen all are facing hardship. You should not bow your head, thump your chest and say what we did during the 15 months of the government. In 15 months, we introduced our policy and intention.

Suspended because I demanded wheat price for fartmers: Jitu

Leader of Opposition Dr. Govind Singh said, today there is a wave of change in the entire state. This is a demonstration to uproot the dishonest government.

Jitu Patwari said, I demanded Rs 3000 per quintal wheat price for the farmers, then I was suspended from the assembly. Raised the issue of serving meals in the BJP office with government money. What wrong did I do. This time BJP will not reach beyond 50.

Policy of crony capitalism

Congress state vice-president and organization in-charge Rajeev Singh said, the BJP government at the center has adopted the policy of crony capitalism in favor of industrialist Gautam Adani. Since then, the savings of crores of poor and middle class Indians have come under threat.

Former Minister and MLA from Bhopal (South-West) PC Sharma said, our MPs are not allowed to speak in Parliament. MLAs are not allowed to speak in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. 

Former Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh Rahul said – The person who betrayed the Rani of Jhansi, brought down the elected government of the people. If they have the courage, they should contest the assembly elections this time.
