Atishi Marlena, Saurabh Bhardwaj Likely To Be Elevated To Cabinet After Resignations Of Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain

New Delhi: Two names have been finalized in the Kejriwal cabinet ito replace former Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, who have resigned. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has sent the names of Atishi Marlena and Saurabh Bhardwaj to LG for approval. 

At present, the responsibility of the department of Sisodia and Jain is with Kailash Gehlot and Rajkumar Anand.

Earlier, Saurabh Bhardwaj was the Transport Minister in Kejriwal's first government of 49 days. Atishi Marlena has been an advisor to Sisodia in the education sector.

Actually, Manish Sisodia was arrested on Sunday in the corruption case. On Monday, the special court sent him on CBI remand. After this, Sisodia reached the Supreme Court on Tuesday. There too he did not get relief. His resignation came shortly after this. Arvind Kejriwal has called a meeting of party leaders at 4 pm today.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 in the liquor policy case, while Satyendar Jain is lodged in Tihar Jail since May 30 last year in the money laundering case. 

Sisodia was the most powerful minister in the Kejriwal government. He had 18 portfolios out of a total of 33. At the same time, Jain had the responsibility of 7 ministries including health, industry. These were later handed over to Sisodia.

Atishi could be given Education, other depts

 Atishi will be given departments, such as Education, Labour, and Tourism, to handle.

Earlier, she was the advisor to the deputy chief minister in the education department until the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2018 said that appointments of 10 advisors were not made after following proper procedure. In 2020, she was elected to the assembly from Kalkaji.

She has actively participated in protests and key decision-making committees of the AAP.

Bhardwaj could be assigned home, PWD

Bhardwaj will likely be assigned to the Public Works Department (PWD), power and home departments.

He has been a participant in AAP for a while now. In 2013, he was given the charge of transport in the 49-day AAP government. Currently, he represents the Greater Kailash constituency and is the national spokesperson for the AAP. He is also the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) vice-chairperson.
