Jaunpur: The nine-day Navratri fair has started from Wednesday at the historic Shaktipeeth Sheetala Chaukia Dham in Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, devotees have not been allowed to touch the idol of Maa Sheetala while performing worship.
Along with this, dress code has been prescribed for the local pandas, priests and barbers. Police personnel have been deployed for the security of the fair.
More rush of devotees expected
According to official sources, this time there will be more rush of devotees in this fair. District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha said that security arrangements are being made by dividing the fair area into one zone and two sectors. More than 100 personnel have been deployed for cleaning, who will continue cleaning round the clock.
Devi Sheetala is the representative blissful aspect of the Divine Mother: hence she was called Sheetala. On Mondays and Fridays, worshippers come here in quite large numbers. Huge crowds gather here during the Navratris.
Arrangements for darshan and worship
DM Jha said that the entire fair area will be under the surveillance of 16 CCTV cameras. On behalf of the temple management, arrangements have been made for the devotees to have a darshan and perform worship in a queue. A control room has been set up in front of the main gate of the temple from where the crowd will be controlled.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajaypal Sharma said that 50 women and men constables, 1 inspector, 2 sub-inspectors have been deployed for the security of the fair. Ajay, head panda of Sheetla Mata Dham, told that crowd of visitors is coming here.
District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha and Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajaypal Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Gautam, along with the in-charge of the concerned police station also come here to gtake a stock of the security and other arrangements.
