New Delhi: West Bengal and Bihar received normal rainfall until now during this pre-monsoon season. Rain and thundershower activities are going on over the eastern parts of the country for last few days but the intense rainfall which was anticipated remained absent in comparison to Northwest India
Any significant weather activity is not expected over East India.
According to Skymet Weather, any significant weather activity is not expected over East India. Weather of most parts of East India including East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal will go dry as there is no significant weather system over eastern part of the country. By next week, dry and hot weather conditions will be observed once again.
Monsoon usually reaches Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim by June 10 and gradually covers many parts of East India by June 15. The onset of Monsoon seems to be a little delayed, therefore there are chances of delay over eastern parts of the country as well but scientists have to wait and see how things unfold.
Rain activities will continue over Rajasthan until June 2
Thunder shower activities have been continuing over many parts of Rajasthan for the last many days. In fact, Rajasthan is one of the states which has received such activities this pre-monsoon season which is very crucial for the crops.
However, in the month of April, Rajasthan recorded heavy rain with hailstorm activities which damaged crops in lakhs of hectares. Rajasthan saw rain in the month of May also. Moreover, Rajasthan is expected to see rains associated with dust storms and hailstorms.
Many parts of Rajasthan, in fact, the southern districts of Rajasthan which were dry until now, also received light scattered activities. These weather conditions will certainly drop the temperature and heat wave will not make a comeback anytime soon. On and off rain activities will continue over Rajasthan until June 2. Weather will start clearing up June 3rd onward and temperatures will rise thereafter.
Light rainfall across North India expected
India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecasted light to moderate spells of rain in some parts of Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 3-4 hours.
IMD also predicted the possibility of rain and hailstorm in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand on Monday.
"Latest satellite imagery shows the possibility of light to moderate spells of rain accompanied with thunderstorms/lightning/gusty winds activity over some parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 3-4 hours," the IMD said on Monday.
