Is Mahendra Singh Dhoni About To Retire? Indications Received After Match Against Kolkata

IPL's Super Sunday was very special. While Bangalore thrashed Rajasthan by 112 runs in the first match, Kolkata beat Chennai by 6 wickets after 11 years in their own home thanks to the partnership between Rinku and Nitish.

This was Chennai's last match at Chepauk this season. There were speculations that this could also be MS Dhoni's last match in Chennai. These speculations gained further momentum when Dhoni along with his teammates went around the ground holding the Chennai flag after the match and greeted the Chennai fans.

After the match, the entire team of Chennai Super Kings, led by captain Dhoni, was thanking the fans while circling around the ground. Dhoni and his team wanted to express their gratitude to the fans who supported the Chennai team in yellow jersey.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, wearing a knee-cap on the knee of one leg, was sometimes throwing a T-shirt towards the audience and sometimes a tennis ball.

Gavaskar came almost running to Dhoni

Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar, the former captain of the Indian team, who was part of the commentary team of the match, reached the ground and came almost running to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni stopped after seeing Gavaskar. They had a brief conversation and then looking at Dhoni, Gavaskar pointed towards his shirt.

Smiling Dhoni wrote 'Mahi' on Gavaskar’s shirt. This is that familiar autograph which is priceless for any Dhoni fan.

Then Dhoni and Gavaskar hugged. After this, Gavaskar went his way and Dhoni started throwing yellow T-shirts and tennis balls of CSK towards the spectators present in the stadium.

Is Dhoni going to retire?

Before the start of this season of IPL, it was being said that this could be Dhoni's last IPL season. Many times Dhoni himself had indicated this. But still the fans were hopeful that maybe Dhoni would not retire, but from what the people of Chennai and the country saw after the match, it seems that this was Dhoni's last match at Chepauk's ground. However, nothing has been announced about Dhoni's retirement yet.

Kolkata beat by 6 wickets

Chennai and Kolkata clashed in the evening match of Super Sunday. After winning the toss in the match, the Chennai team scored 144 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs, in response, Kolkata chased this target in 18.3 overs thanks to the brilliant knocks of Nitish and Rinku. While the road to the playoffs is becoming difficult for Chennai, Kolkata is somehow maintaining its playoff hopes.

Kolkata defeated Chennai on its own ground after 11 years. The team got its last win in the year 2012 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.
