Karnataka CM: Kharge To Consult Sonia Gandhi, Rahul; DK Shivakumar Leaves For Delhi


Bengaluru: As the suspense over the next Karnataka Chief Minister continues, sources informed that the Congress party could the final decision by today i.e. Tuesday.


Central observers submit their report to Kharge


The central observers of Congress for Karnataka have submitted their report to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge who will consult former chief Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi to arrive at a final decision, party sources said. 


Despite Congress' bumper win in the Karnataka assembly polls, suspense over chief minster continues with Karnataka Congress president D K Shivakumar, one of the two contenders to the post, scheduled to arrive in Delhi later today ahead of an announcement by the party.


For the past three days, the saga over the next Karnataka's chief minister has continued as the two contenders -- DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah -- have played an equally important role in the victory of the Congress party.

 

I don't want to divide anyone here: Shivakumar


Before leaving for Delhi, Shivakumar said: "Ours is a united house, our number is 135. I don't want to divide anyone here. Whether they like me or not, I am a responsible man. I will not backstab and I will not blackmail." 


Earlier, on Monday, Shivakumar had said he would not share the CM position with Siddaramaiah.


He said the chief minister's post is not a property, 'to be shared like siblings share ancestral property. He added that it is a question of forming the government  and there cannot be sharing.


Congress leader Siddaramaiah had arrived Delhi on Monday. Both he and Siddaramaiah had been called to Delhi by the top leadership of the AICC for a discussion.
