Karnataka CM: Shivakumar Reaches Delhi, Stir In Congress, Rahul Gandhi Reaches Kharge’s Residence


New Delhi: With the arrival of Karnataka Congress President and Chief Ministerial aspirant DK Shivakumar here on Tuesday, the stir in the party regarding the CM's selection intensified. 


Shivakumar was called by the party leadership to Delhi on Monday for talks but he did not turn up citing ill health. At the behest of the high command, Siddaramaiah, the second contender for the CM post, came here only yesterday and held talks with top leaders as well as other party leaders.


Shivakumar to hold talks with Rahul, Kharge


As soon as Shivakumar reached Delhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached the residence of party President Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss the issue. Shivakumar is understood to hold talks with the two leaders at the Kharge's residence.


Before leaving for Delhi, the Karnataka Congress President said in Bengaluru that the challenge before the party is to win 20 Lok Sabha seats from Karnataka in the general elections. He also said that the Karnataka Congress is united and all will work together to strengthen the party.


Meanwhile, senior Karnataka leader BK Hariprasad said that the team of central observers, which went to Bengaluru to seek opinion of the newly elected legislators regarding the legislature party elections, have submitted their report to the high command and on the basis of that the new chief minister will be elected.


Significantly, the Congress Legislature Party on Sunday authorized the party president to elect a new leader.
