India-Australia WTC- 2023: India Nees 280 Runs On Final Day To Win; Shubman Gill Out Or Not Out, Debate Begins On Social Media

London: The final match of the World Test Championship (WTC)-2023 is being played at The Oval in London. India has a target of 444 runs to win. The Indian team has scored 164 runs losing 3 wickets.

India now needs to score 280 runs to win the match on the last day, while it has still 7 wickets in hand.

In India's second innings, batsman Shubman Gill contributed 18 runs and was caught by Cameron Green off the bowling of fast bowler Scott Boland. Besides, Gill India has lost the wickets of Kohli and Rahane.

However, questions are being raised about Shubham's catch taken by Green. Many people feel that Shubman Gill was not out. He was given out by the third umpire.

Actually, when Green took the catch, the field umpires could not decide whether he caught the catch cleanly or not. That is, whether the ball hit the ground or not. In such a situation, he asked the third umpire to decide.

Many social media users including former cricketers are raising questions on this decision.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has shared a picture tweeting on this matter. In the picture, a black bandage is tied on the face of a person.

Sehwag wrote, "The third umpire giving the decision of Shubman Gill's dismissal. When in doubt, it is not out.

Cricketer Harsha Bhogle wrote: It was a great effort from Cameron Green but it is the moment immediately after the catch is taken, when the hand turns, that must have caused Shubman Gill to be very disappointed.

Twitter user Mufaddal Vohra wrote: Unlucky Shubman Gill. It should have been not out.
