Wrestlers Protest: We Haven't Backed Down From Our Demand For Brij Bhushan’s Arrest, Says Bajrang Punia; Future Strategy To Be Decided After June 15



Sonepat: Khap Panchayat is being held in Sonepat today regarding the dispute between wrestlers and former WFI President Brij Bhushan. Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia reached in the panchayat. They informed the Khap representatives about the meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. 


The wrestlers said that the government is not ready to arrest Brij Bhushan. Bajrang said that the Center has sought time till June 15. If no action is taken, there will be another dharna for Brij Bhushan's arrest.


'Future strategy will be planned after June 15'


Punia said the Mahapanchayat today decided they would plan future strategy after June 15. "We haven't backed down from our demand for his arrest," he said, adding that they don't trust the police investigation.


'Entire system shielding Brij Bhushan'


"The police yesterday took a woman wrestler to the Wrestling Federation of India office despite Brij Bhushan Singh being present there. The woman asked if Singh was at the office, the police lied and said he wasn't. She got scared when she got to know he was there," Punia said. He alleged the entire system was shielding Brij Bhushan Singh.


Gradually more girls will break down: Sakshi Malik


On the other hand, Sakshi Malik said that I, Bajrang and Vinesh are one and will remain the same. There is a reason for Vinesh not coming. Some inquiry is going on.


Sakshi said that we have been demanding from the beginning that Brij Bhushan should be arrested immediately. If he stays outside, there will be pressure on others. We will play Asian Games only when this whole issue is resolved.


Sakshi said the minor who was among the seven women wrestlers accusing the Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual abuse, changed her statement under pressure, Olympian Sakshi said there's huge pressure on us to compromise. She has alleged women wrestlers were being threatened. Gradually more girls will break down, she added.
