Gwalior: President Droupadi Murmu visited Maharaja Jivaji Rao Scindia Museum of 'Jai Vilas Palace' during her stay at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh today.
During this, State Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia were present with her. Murmu also met some school children here and discussed with them. Mrs. Murmu kept visiting the museum for about 10 minutes.
President Droupadi Murmu was the guest of the Scindia family on Wednesday. On arrival at the museum, the President was welcomed in a traditional way by folk and classical dancers. President Smt. Murmu offered flowers by lighting a lamp in front of the statue of Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia.
Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia and his wife Smt. Priyadarshini Raje Scindia told President Smt. Murmu about the rich and glorious Maratha history. Also gave information about the expansion of the Maratha Empire in the year 1758 through the map. The President viewed artefacts related to Maratha history and culture.
Prez met children
While visiting the museum, President Smt. Murmu met the school children and distributed toffees and interacted with them. She also interacted with a Divyang child. She also interacted with the dignitaries in the Durbar Hall.
Murmu also visited folk art and craft exhibition
President Smt. Murmu also visited the folk art and craft exhibition in the museum. She received information from folk artists about their art-crafts and art. She appreciated the artefacts of weavers weaving Saris on handlooms, folk-painters, wooden artefacts, pottery artists. She met Mohammad Rafiq Ahmed, the turban tying artist of the Scindia dynasty for the last 60 years and appreciated his art. President Smt. Murmu also met Shri Chhailan Bihari Prajapati making pottery on terracotta wheel and Shri Rakesh Savita, a carpet weaver.
President Smt. Murmu also posed for a group photo with school children, all artistes, folk dancers, classical dancers.
19 dishes without garlic-onion prepared for Prez
19 dishes without garlic-onion were prepared for her. The chefs of the palace had prepared special food for her. It included dishes ranging from Nepali Saag to Dalma, Santula, Jeera Moong Dal Chilka, Paneer Makhana, Bhutta Kees etc. Governor, CM and several ministers were present at the dining table with the President.
Along with this, Jyotiraditya Scindia's wife and son were also with her. During this, Jyotiraditya Scindia was telling the President about the dishes. Pictures of the President's lunch have come to the fore.
Grand preparations were made at Jai Vilas Palace for his visit. Priyadarshini Raje Scindia welcomed the President. After entering the palace, Murmu was given a traditional welcome.
Earlier, Mrs. Murmu came here from Delhi by a special plane. She will also attend the convocation ceremony of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM) located here.
Welcome at Airport
Earlier, Murmu was accorded warm welcome at the Air Force airport in Gwalior. Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan warmly welcomed her in Gwalior by presenting her a bouquet.
