Maharashtra: RPF Jawan Shoots Dead ASI, 3 passengers Near Palghar On Board Jaipur-Mumbai Express



Mumbai: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable on Monday shot dead 4 persons on board Jaipur-Mumbai Express (12956) near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra.


Police said the constable fired from his automatic weapon, killing an RPF Assistant Sub Inspector and three other passengers shortly after 5 am.


Chetan Kumar Choudhary opened fire on his escort duty incharge ASI Tika Ram Meena in the running train.


After killing his senior, the constable went to another bogie and shot dead three passengers, the official added.


The incident took place Palghar railway station in Maharashtra. The accused jawan got down from the train near Dahisar station and ran away. 


Western Railway has informed that the accused jawan has been nabbed along with his weapon. The police have taken the jawan to Borivali police station for questioning. The police is trying to find out why the accused did this.


A Western Railway spokesperson said the constable upon shooting his colleague, initially held passengers at gunpoint. It is regretted that ASI Tika Ram and three passengers were shot at. Constable Chetan Kumar got down near Dahisar and tried to flee after Alarm Chain Pulling. But, was arrested by RPF/Bhayandar along with the weapon.
